Poor quality in my GM vehicle
Do you base this on past experience or more than one perspective Bashing French because I think this is the last Renault -Nissan share many of the same parts and platforms and reliability of Nissan and quality are not poor and I don think the new Renaults are worst I have friends who have Peugeots and they are very happy with them and I recently drove spent some time in their 508 and I can tell you that interior fitting and finishing materials used, etc. Was better than my much more expensive Mercedes C class 2010 while the quality of French cars can be said has been up and down, as they their existence, so many other brands .
German cars have built a reputation for superior engineering, but they certainly does have superior long-term reliability or quality shinny A pretty penny shinny is just a pretty penny on the outside and what matters is what which is inside, I owned several German high-end luxury cars - BMW and Mercedes-Benz and I can tell you that, so pretty, shinny and generally good driving cars, they have a distressing reliability long term, in particular the right when the base warranty expires It seems that most rooms are simply designed to last as long 50K or less and both brands including Audi and Volkswagen are the same as I owned a 2008 60K BMW Nordic in 535xit - twin turbo and he was constantly in the new turbos shop 50K, new suspension bushes before the drive train leaks, fuel injection many the Behavior es and defective fuel pumps, electric broken water pumps, and the list is long, I got rid of when I hit 60K since I knew from past experience to reach 100K would be extremely costly Co unacceptable mpletely our 2010 Mercedes C300 had a balance shaft engine failure, broken interior door handles - requiring a complete replacement of the gasket defective wheel bearings door, faulty locks, again all these problems just after the warranty manufacturer expired 50K I had almost 10K repair bills, I also got rid of the car are not isolated cases, they are well documented problems with the cars I mentioned above prompted several class action lawsuits against BMW including faulty engineering leading to potentially dangerous situations caused by the poor qua reliable quality ity, it is quite surprising that people tend to ignore these and continue to buy these cars because they are pretty penny shinny outdoors fueling a status symbol I also an old 13 years that Lexus has over 200K miles on it going strong.
German brands were ranked among the worst reliable cars on the market with the most problems for cars sold to Consumer Reports, JD Power, etc. There is simply no excuse for these types of breakdowns and repairs on such expensive cars A friend of mine has a 2012 BMW 550 V8 and between constant fuel injection problems and a large amount of oil consumption in its car is still in the shop documented problems.
We have a saying on this side of the Atlantic - rent you German cars and buy Japanese actually know German manufactures and provides ongoing incredibly low rental rates to move their cars with maintenance, prices are sometimes too good to pass up.
Although it seems like I'm bashing German cars, it was not my intention, I just want to say that before making a general statement think about what you say to me, French cars are not worse or no better than any other European brand, they just don t get to be as shinny and pretty on the outside as some of their rivals, the old reputations and good looks can be deceiving.
Perhaps it is for the bean counters over-power engineers.
Cars like Peugeot 404 504 505 had a good representative to be robust Citroën were still a bit complex, even powerful Mercedes-Benz has suffered damage to their representative when they went cheap on engineering.
Dr. Everett V Scott sez I know a lot about many things.

My companion had the true C-Class recalled to incorrect installation The first time, it was the seal of the oil filter must be replaced before its C-Class was to be recalled for a steering lock problem.

Remember that German cars made for the US and Europe are two different worlds protection against rust, another set so totally different quality Normally we say that American cars are American junk direction without feeling of absolute road at all, shock absorbsers acting more like air pump.

Did you know that the US market is the second largest market for both Mercedes and BMW and probably Audi and in fact in 2013 entirely on May 1 Mercedes sold worldwide was in place in the US market The car market American luxury is one of the biggest growth markets in the world and is very important for brands, it is absolutely no sense that they would sell a quality car the lessor for the US market.
While American cars had it share of problems over the years, they got much better look at the report of the reliability displayed on this thread Regarding the way they drive, the Europeans really need to drive new Cadillacs both the ATS and CTS CTS is considered a better BMW car ultimate driving machine today that the current BMW 5 series line took a serious weight and lost all sense of direction feel his acclaimed predecessor the E60 How things change.
The problem with the reliability index to a certain extent is the type of owner.
For example many people I know who have at least some knowledge of cars would never buy a Renault So, people who actually buy them may have lower standards.
Conversely, anyone who buys a Porsche will have high standards The smallest problem and their fault, or they complain about it in magazines.
So something like a table squeak board, Porsche owner would complain in a reliability survey Renault owner probably didn t even notice and if they did, then what the car was cheap.
A huge generalization there of course, but I'd bet the type of person who buys a French car has lower standards if they had high standards, they would not have bought in the first place.
The lower standards can never skew reliability survey One of these cars that the owner believes are perfect would probably be full of flaws if you were driving it whining box, rattles, knocks over bumps, etc.
Djones wrote a huge generalization there of course, but I'd bet the type of person who buys a French car has lower standards if they had high standards, they would not have bought in the first place.
Well, no, I have high standards, but I have no money, for example, I drive Honda cheap which segment I am.
If you want to delve into the reliability indices, read - So go further into the site and look around, but read carefully - most of the things that bothers you already answered Finally, if you want to get real impressions, do your own research in a large group of people and draw conclusions other than that, I see no merit in meaningless discussions, a gossip of the style I heard a guy.
You have no money like me, but did Honda would be a much better car for not buying a Renault.
I think it would be unrealistic to say that the basis of this survey, French cars are a reliable way, as a person who knows about cars and was friends with a wide range of cars knows that they are not unreliable and poorly constructed.
Once I changed the clutch on a Megane and from the fact stupid, he had to take any part in off, parts of the bumpers were stapled on bolts or real reusable fasteners not stapled.
Anyway, I leave as there are clearly people here who defend because of an argument The original question was why they like this Trying to prove that they arnt and they are in an entirely as reliable as BMW etc is total crap because they are not.
I'll just add that my very limited and view irrelevant, I'm not sure I'll ever buy a car with a French manufacturer more I have no doubt you can find a reliable car with a manufacturer, but the Citroën I had the worst experience ever, I'm not even going to start on what was so bad, but I was not alone in some of these problems.
Yes, Citroen isnt in the same order as other French manufacturers; and to some extent, it was cheap, so could not expect miracles may Anyway, printing unfortunately rubbed off developed another French car will not be on the table next car is a Ford, BMW, Audi or perhaps something Japanese.
Not for nothing, Rosberg Championship is the only thing that gives credibility to the recent success of Hamilton Otherwise it just be the guy who has the best car Ask the average fan Vettel which is like --- Bhall II.
Why French cars of generally poor quality, French, cars in general.
