The costly setback comes at a critical time as the German giant is trying to develop the Chinese market booming and is the largest recall of VW's history.
In the UK, about 30,000 of the 800,000 Tiguan SUV models recalled are affected and 30,000 other models beset by a range of relatively minor offenses.
But the scale of the recall is eclipsed by Toyota's record recall 10 million cars in 2009 and 2010, caused by fears over sticky gas pedals and floor mats.

VW has acted on concerns that the vehicles concerned have Tiguan defective fuses in their lighting systems, and 239,000 Amarok pickup trucks can leak engine fuel lines.
An additional 1 6 million cars and light trucks may have problems caused by the use of synthetic oil in their gearboxes, including 640,000 vehicles manufactured for the Chinese market between 2009 and 2013.

In a statement, VW urged homeowners to contact their local dealers and declared in isolated cases, a fuse may TRIOP in the Tiguan resulting in the failure of one of the two vehicle lighting circuits.
Fuse replacement by a surface coating lasts only takes a few minutes.

At the end it won t hurt Volkswagen and if you own a car as long as you get the work done as quickly as possible, there is nothing to fear.
