Germany loves German electric cars; Leaf, Volt, not so much.
It is not unusual for citizens of a particular country to use a bit of patriotism when buying vehicles and stick to brands that country.
A huge band of Americans buying cars built by the big three, for example, Italians buy a lot of French drivers often stick Decrees, Renaults Peugeot and Citroen cars.
