Porsche 911 (996 series) Buyer's Guide - carphile.Co.Uk

Buying a car in Germany and driving back to the UK.
So I'm about to buy my first car in Germany this year, I drove other cars for two years and now the time has finally come to get my own car I will have will be a BMW E46 Touring 316i or 318d Touring as that is the best price.
My question concerns the procedure for obtaining export license plates and vehicle tax, as far as I understand when I must first buy an export insurance here.
Then, once I buy the car go the equivalent of a DVLA has the insurance newsletter I receive from the above then they will both deliver me Export plates and allow me to pay one month tax on motor also where can I find these Office.
Then I affix the plates to the car that will TUV date so I can legally drive home.

Could someone who has already been through this process to confirm whether this is correct or if I should do something more on a side note, I contacted the above company who sell insurance export and they confirmed that insurance a coven me 18 years provided you have a full license drivers I do is there other snags that I could run being the age I am .
That the insurance paper or maybe just a code number nummer EVB - I'm not sure - it's just that the regular insurance number, it should be updated to the system as well.
You will find the local Strassenverkehrsamt - better find before and make an appointment.
They all do business, give you another sheet, then proceed to a registration plate pressure store and pay for two plates - it'll be a store in the same building, or you can save a few quid by going some hundred yards - and then go back with the plates, they stick on decals, you stick them on your car, you can drill through them with a self Tapper or buy the clips.
You may have to pay by credit card only, and may need to provide bank details IBAN and BIC, but I'm not 100.

You also need the two parties working paper Fahrzeugschein car, Teil I and Teil II.
If not unsubscribed you need the old plates.
HU is the T V, but V T is only one of the companies that do.
Under the leadership of Hugo Gogo on Tuesday 16 September 14 21.
I more than likely buy the used car privately, so I guess I'll have to save die as well.
Can I go to any Strassenverkehrsamt to get plates or are they specific to the exact car I'm buying.

You can get them anywhere, but you need the car already, closest to where you buy the car.
Most private bettors will have to de-reg, or want to-reg before handing over the papers - if they didn t d must trust you to give them the slip-reg.
Many dealers even back-street will arrange something for you and hand over the car with export plates if you pay for OBV.
Especially back streets fact, car sales only export as a commercial sale no return for them, many cars are shipped out of Eastern Europe.
So once I signed the papers for the new car which is still selling it, I take these papers as well as insurance to Strassenverkehrsamt, and get them to stamp the plates and I go on my merry way of 'hope.

All agreed with the seller to make the case to Strassenverkehrsamt They will check the VIN and you deliver registration and export The seller receives his proof of deregistration.
AFAIK export plates cost 200 euros and include insurance 3rd party.
You pay for insurance, which could be up to 200 I suppose you buy the plates which cost about 20-30 administrative costs to Strassenverkehrsamt, and the price of squeezing the plates themselves from another place, what could be 15-20.
ADAC offer coverage for 15 days or 80 160 for 30 days.

No you use the old plates, you must buy new cos they are different format for these exports.
One last question, can I buy insurance with the company I above, say a month before I'll watch the car.
I would be their first phone, put everything in place, and a contact person, then ring the day you are actually buying the car and bring them to you literals, the EVB number.
Don t forget, the German export plates have a limited life stamped on the plates, I think it is only 10 days with start and end with the poster is to stop abuse plates, they can not be used for border vehicle transportation across the old oval plates were often misused for months.
Bought my car in Germany and returned to the UK there several years ago, I bought a merchant gave the car a new TUV We went to the office loccal engine with car documents, he verified, recorded as exported corner cut all very painless document then to another department to obtain temporary registration plates valid for 14 or 21 days, I can not remember, ADAC for temporary insurance coverage, including breakdown cover, and then off to go took several hours overall, primarily spent in the engine of the office, but it was simple, I had a friend help me to speak German, and if you have this possibility unless of course you can speak German you I recommend the dealer's insurance cover to the engine's office was provided by the dealer.
I bought my camper in Germany last year and this is how I succeeded.

I just recorded my ex-German Club Sport GT3 and largely agree with the above.
1 The transit plates are a no-no with The Frogs and the Belgians Technically, you will be right, but try explaining that to a policeman on a cold, wet night on the side of the E40 Not worthy for 60 well EUR50.
2 You no longer need insurance in the UK to register a car in the UK.
3 CGRH will e-mail with a conformation that you have them informed about importing your vehicle now DVLA and HMRC computing platforms are linked.

4 The most important bit - UK MOT is not enough to justify the registration of your car, you need to provide proof that your speedometer reads in miles as your headlights have been adapted to the flow of traffic from the United RHD Kingdom and your fog was moved from the right side of the vehicle if you have only one invoice a garage suffice.
5 When filling the DVLA import form - when in doubt, call I found it very useful for a change Welsh Took 4 days to get my car registered to send them the documents needed to get my V5C back course they spelled my name wrong, but I'm willing to overlook it.
6 If your car is going to be more than 10 years, then you will be OK, as though newer, be sure to ask the seller a European certificate of conformity It will save you from having to ask BMW UK for which costs money and time without it you will not be able to complete the form and register the car.
