The truth about the AmericanMade Vehicles __gVirt_NP_NN_NNPS <__ Motley Fool

Harley-Davidson: The Spirit of America - THE MOVIE

I hear rumblings of consumers and investors on how Toyota vehicles NYSE TM and Honda HMC NYSE are more American that those Ford F NYSE NYSE GM General Motors or Chrysler Many people seem to believe that I had to look myself a search even lifted a US index fact, that indeed said that four of the first five vehicles made most Americans were Japanese models.
Luckily for you readers - and Detroit - I was skeptical and plunged The truth is that Ford, General Motors and Chrysler are far more American made and the index is deeply flawed Here's what you need to know about buying American-made vehicles and why it is important for consumers and investors.
The index for flawed account if the cars are assembled here, the percentage of domestic parts used, and if they're bought in large numbers, I scratch my head a little to the latter factor, I understand that the point is to discount of 100 vehicles that could actually sell here only 10 units But in reality, there are far better factors to consider when measuring for most vehicles manufactured in America.
Moreover, the index seems to downplay the national coins bought GM didnt only one car in the top five of the index, but consider that GM alone buys as many US parts like Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi and all other Japanese automakers combined Surprised Wait - it gets better.
Another thing that the index fails to recognize is where the companies are headquartered While Japanese manufacturers have here plants and offices, they aren t headquarters where the majority of their R & D money is spent Big Three Detroit are all headquartered here and have eight times the number of workers here as Toyota, Honda and Nissan make Detroit spends more on R & d here in the United States per year that behemoth companies like Boeing Intel Google of Apple Hewlett-Packard and ExxonMobil - again combined.
Manufactured and sold by the index While using the volume in its calculation, it does so in a wrong way wouldn t you calculate rather that vehicles that are made in the US and also sold here Data ignores that Big Three of Detroit, on average, sell one and half times as many US -made vehicles in the US market as its foreign counterparts.

At this point, I decided to delete the index, and I found a much better study by Professor Frank DuBois of business at Kogod School American University This study saw 253 cars, trucks and SUV to determine who has the most content inside it took into account the work of RD, inventory, capital spending, engine parts, transmission parts, body, interior, chassis, electrical, and profits.
Tied at the top of this list, with a score of 5 out of 88 100, were the Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia, which were all made in the series F of Michigan Ford - the # 1 truck in the States States - was tied for second with the Dodge Avenger 87 5 Then two American muscle icons - the Mustang and Corvette - with a score of 85 You must get a score of 81 to find the first foreign vehicle - the Toyota Avalon these results are a world away from the index, but, in my opinion, are much more accurate.
Buy American The best thing that could happen for Ford and GM investors is for the American public to back again our auto industry and is buying US Our auto industry supports nearly 8 million jobs in the United States and should hire up to 34 000 workers over the next five years - led by Ford and GM.
But while some consumers still think Japanese cars are also manufactured in America that American cars are, others don t buy American because they think our cars are still lower quality Consider this since 2010, Toyota and Honda most remembered of any automaker Toyota is previously known for its top quality, more than reminders items 2 and 3 combined, or GM tripled.
Ford and GM aren t the same two companies pumped terrible vehicles and had management that was running into the ground are two quality produce and, above all, vehicles manufactured in America.
