Part of the history of Peterborough Nene Valley Railway Review Peterborough England

Nene Valley Railway in 2014

Part of the history of Peterborough - Nene Valley Railway.
We went on the railway the 40 weekend s It was superb It was the first time I had been on a steam train, and was really happy that we went boyfriends My three years old son like trains dad takes them sometimes when turned off during the week as it was a weekend, we both decided to go we did not realize it was the weekend of 40 so this was a nice surprise we parked in the village Yarwell initally took a long walk through the muddy fields of the bridges over caravan park across Stiles etc., until we arrived at junction Yarwell My nan NVR brother was a train driver when he was alive, they dedicated a memorial garden for him Yarwell after his death last year, it was a long walk, but totally worth it, especially because of the gloriously sunny day nothing to do Yarwell through though, it's just a joint, not a resort, so that the train stops right there for 5 minutes back the other way again We returned to the car and drove to Wansford to board the train there to Ferry Meadows and return Walking along the road to the station to see lots of people dressed in 40's get up and army soldiers, guns, tents, etc. , not to mention cars, was wonderful There were a lady sing the old time war songs on the platform as we took the train in a private car wondered why he was in Leaving behind 5 minutes We quickly learned some German soldiers were running the train, in search of someone typing on transport windows shouting in German it was very realistic and as we looked out the window - they of course find that they cherchaien t, and have been walking gunpoint down platform you as the train pulled away the attention to detail was wonderful that I had a beautiful day it costs 8 each return to me my other half to go 10 minutes back, but worth the trouble Don t think I would pay as a normal day, but without a running event.
My partner and I have never been on a steam train before so were keen to have this experience when we were in the area and we were so happy that we did was amazing, like stepping back in time Staff on the train were very friendly and full of knowledge about the train and the rail bar was very reasonable too.
I went to their gala weekend expecting a typical gala I was surprised and happy to find many continental railway equipment it altho no Continental engines are operational I've seen a lot in loco sheds Railway preserved was built for continental stock which means the space between the platform and the track is wider in any case I really enjoyed the day staff were nice and friendly chat and joke rail isn t too long but still offers a decent trip at the end there is a Peterborough Railworld museum and the mainline station is around 20 minutes walk there is well worth the visit because it is something different compared to other paths of iron.
