Man pushes the police which led to people in the German city of Heidelberg in one death and two injuries.
A man drove a car into pedestrians in the German city of Heidelberg Saturday, killing one person and wounding two others, fled on foot brandishing a knife before being intercepted and shot by police.
Dramatic video footage posted on Twitter showed the alleged abuser surrounded by officers with their guns drawn, who shouted orders to him and opened fire after a tense standoff on a path next to a restaurant.
One of the three people living outside a bakery in a central square of the picturesque town was seriously injured, Anne Baas, a police spokesman said police later said the pedestrian was killed .
Police said they did not know information on the reasons for the attack, which comes just over two months after an asylum seeker killed 12 people when he drove a truck into a crowd in Berlin but said that initial results suggested that it was not terrorism the suspect was identified as PI on a German 35 years old.

The truck driver, identified as 31-year-old Tunisian named Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, was shot dead by police.

The man who succumbed to his injuries in the hospital about two hours after the attack was a German national aged 73, police and the state attorney of Heidelberg said in a statement.
The other two injured were an Austrian aged 32 and a woman of 29 years in Bosnia two were treated for minor injuries before being discharged.



The alleged attacker was undergoing surgery at a local hospital on Saturday night.
The police statement said there was so far no indication that this was a terrorist attack.
