Situated in a closed park, with private dock and access to standing water Gramam Homestay is planted with mature mango and coconut trees - as well as cinnamon and pepper bushes The house and gardens are a delight The interior is simple and the rooms are spotless.
The host, Jos helped us plan what we wanted to do in the area, including a visit to the auction of the local river, fishing from a canoe on the backwaters, and experience a performance Kathakali I would recommend all three.
We often dine - in the host family that was made with delicious local ingredients, including fresh fish and shrimp stagnant water.
Nothing was too much for Josh and his family during our stay - and we felt welcomed.

For any foreigner, I can say please save your money in property is a good location near the water back but India Kerala is more than the money you deserve something better.
We were a group of seven My partner and I had asked for a superior room and gave the bungalow - very well, but housing for the other five had two rooms in the main house, which had a total of two beds doubles, one of which was only three-quarters of one and only one not very good.
Our bungalow was very spacious and private, to include a kitchen and an outdoor shower and a bathroom It is a nice quiet place in a village.
This review is marked 2015, but in reality it is a belated review of Jos after our visit in 2012, we really written on our return, but back in Britain our ordinary life has resumed and somehow it slipped our minds now we return next month, we want to tell everyone why.
Gramam is the ideal base for your Indian holiday or a relaxing break in the middle is calm and pretty in gardens and yet you can get out the door and immediately be in a real life Indian village with shops and temples and schools all the dynamism of cities without the hassle and noise and with relatively little traffic Take a walk and you may be the locals as not being greeted timidly by schoolchildren Hire a tuk-tuk and just drive around the arms dead and rice paddies Relax by the water under the palm trees in the garden bungalow and watching the Brahminy kites and fishing nets.
We stayed in the bungalow which is in a walled garden a few meters from the water The bungalow is beautiful and wonderfully located, calm, cool, airy and comfortable with good beds open top, the bathroom is well equipped with good nice shower to be on it at night listening to the cicadas and watching the palm trees against the moon Jos is a great organizer and picked us up at the airport by the driver we then used for Jos trips arranged for us in Cochin for a day tour, watching elephants, one day a Brahmin family in their home, a very special boat trip on the backwaters - not major tourist houseboats on the canals but a small boat around true backwaters.
Jos's wife is an amazing cook and we had the best food of our trip to India here prawn curry is to die for Cochin is only half an hour away, so why stay in a hotel or guest house in the city where you can have a beautiful place like Gramam bungalow in its own acre of lush jungle area and facade private lagoon.
We can not believe that he had not been booked and really look forward to returning there.
We arrived at Gramman homestay after a long overnight flight We are a family of five and stayed at the bungalow for a night Position magical bungalow next to the backwaters with a beautiful view of the sunset sun the veranda and hammocks share the beautiful views of the bungalow is very clean and comfortable with 4 single beds, a beautiful outdoor shower and a kitchen is so peaceful dinner was delicious, homemade and fresh local produce we went on a boat ride at sunset where we were kicked and saw the classic Chinese fishing nets used Jos organized our 8 day vacation that was wonderful throughout highly recommended.
