Changing the oil in a BMW or MINI, a vacuum method
There are some years, BMW has introduced interval oil changes delivered to their cars BMW oil change interval is now 15,000 miles, which, in case you missed it, is 5 times longer than the interval 3000 mile seems to have been rooted in everyones memory There's such a difference that BMW owners often ask me if they can really wait that long.
In my experience, BMW seems to have done a very good job on this one, but like everything else, there are some caveats.
First, when it is time for your BMW oil change, you should only use BMW recommend synthetic oils with oil filters approved much of the technology that allows for extended oil change intervals is based the use of more efficient synthetic oil if you try to go cheap and use non-synthetic oil route, then you risk blowing an engine seal and will probably end with a project major repair bill.

This brings me to my third and final point why the oil go bad before the break driving conditions is something I say all the time here on the Auto Tech Blog German, but it is worth repeating If you do never take your car the highway so you'll probably need an oil change earlier than the oil interval of 15,000 miles has two functions, one is to lubricate your engine, the other is to act as detergent, but it is the capacity as detergent is limited if you never allow to heat through a bit of time on the highway by bringing your car to 60-70MPH and leave instead of engine heat to a standard operating temperature, allow the oil to run your engine and clean all moving parts.
