The United States began the 20th century as a country with enormous potential, and we ended the century as the world's only superpower, however, there are two ways to look at this powerful nation in the 1920s - as a rich country with a high standard of living, big cars and big houses, or as a country with many people living in poverty and enduring a terrible racism.
Although the United States did not enter World War until April 1917, the conflict has cast a shadow over the US company that would take some time to spend had a brief recession in the early 1920, but as the decade progressed, the economy booming and America began at the age of consumption - many Americans bought cars, radios, refrigerators, etc. Major cities like New York and Chicago have developed rapidly and skyscraper building like the Empire State Building, which was completed in 1931, seemed to show confidence in American society.
At the same time, many Americans wanted to have fun as much as they could perhaps by listening to the new jazz music or doing new dances like the Charleston and black bottom crowds flocked to see the stars film like Charlie Chaplin and baseball stars such as Babe Ruth, emphasis on fun and spend money led in the 1920s called crazy years.
