Promised the German government to continue to operate the four German production sites of Opel in the French carmaker proposed acquisition of General Motors' European arm, the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag Sunday.
The planned sale was confirmed by both companies Tuesday, raising the specter of budget cuts as a result of a deal because the car industry in Europe has been pursued for years by overcapacity.
