Porsche 918 Plug-In Hybrid Supercar ends production after 918 units.
For a car with a small production run, the Porsche 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid supercar has spent long enough in the public eye.
More than five years after being unveiled as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2010, production of the 918 has finally run its course.
After several years of development, it took 21 months to build Porsche planned 918 units.
Even the construction of a more would be too much, for obvious reasons.
The car's base price was 845,000, but it is no surprise that each copy has found a home.

Real mode supercar, the 918 V-8 4 6 liters is mounted in the middle of the chassis, and is completed by two electric motors.
Together they provide 887 horsepower to all four wheels, enough to get the 918 from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds and 2 at a maximum speed of 214 mph by estimating Porsche.
The 918 arrived at about the same time that the hybrid Ferrari and McLaren P1 laferrari - all hybrid powertrains introduction to the most rarefied levels of road car performance.
The Porsche was considered by some critics to be a little softer than the Ferrari and McLaren was both less powerful and heaviest of the three.
However, Porsche was probably the only manufacturer to take the hybrid aspect of hybrid supercar seriously.
In addition to its impressive performance figures, the 918 Spyder gets an EPA-certified 67 MPGe combined, with 12 miles of electric range only.

While McLaren P1 has a listing, it could Muster a range of significant electric driving in the EPA tests, and is rated at only 18 combined MPGe.
The laferrari is not a plug-in hybrid, and Ferrari says its V-12 engine never shuts off while driving.
In addition to claiming the unusual title of most efficient supercar, the 918 Spyder also preceded by a wave of German plug-in hybrid models that is still to break.

It was soon followed by the Panamera S more convenient e-hybrid sedan and SUV Cayenne S E-Hybrid - Porsche briefly give three plug-in hybrid production.

This seemed a lot even last year, but now rivals BMW and Mercedes-Benz are set to offer four each, and Audi will launch at least two in the U S in the coming months as well.
