Breckenridge attracts German auto enthusiasts to Oktdubberfest.
Cold beer, sausages and native tunes weren t the only attractions this weekend that German car enthusiasts gathered for the auto show Oktdubberfest eighth year at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge.
Organized by Jonathan Baker, founder of MetroDubs, LLC, a Volkswagen and Audi enthusiasts group based in Denver, is a non Oktdubberfest Free Press show all German car owners.
We Are not judge anything and we don t hand price, Baker said, This is a meeting for those minded to talk about their cars and have fun.
Baker first set Oktdubberfest in 2005 in Denver in 2010, he moved the event to coincide with the Breckenridge Oktoberfest on Main Street when he made the trip in the mountains of the show more than doubled in size, from 23 participants in 2011 to 53 in 2012.
But the numbers were down a bit this year and although Baker believes that mass flooding on the beach front probably kept some people to travel in the West, he admits that he didn t promote the event so that he previous years Although 24 cars were exposed with lovers of German cars traveling as far as Denver and Colorado Springs to participate.



Bob Fredrickson didn t have to travel far, but the 1967 Volkswagen Bus stole the show anyway.
Now 62 and living in Silverthorne, Fredrickson first time his motorhome brand new bus style for 2300 when he turned 16 a few years later, he retrofitted roof with a roof cut off a Volkswagen 1957 bug.
When asked why he would do such a thing Fredrickson said, I just love being able to stand up when I put my pants.
Although Fredrickson traveled the country extensively in his bus during his youth, he said there was a time in his life when he overlooked the car and nature took its toll Instead scrap its bus well -Aimé, Fredrickson decided in 2008 to try a full restore of two years and 15,000 later, he finally recovered his bus to its former glory.


That's really what this event is all about; give people the opportunity to talk about their cars, Baker said, and this is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining shows there it is hard not to have a good time when you are in Breckenridge for Oktoberfest.
